NATIONAL APPLE MONTH/ BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
LINKED!!!!
We have all probably been touched by Breast Cancer in one way or another. We may have friends or relatives who have fought this disease; some winning the battle; others sadly not.
I found it interesting that one of the main foods popping up in research to help prevent and fight Breast Cancer is apples. I love the fact the National Apple Month is celebrated in the same month we are bringing awareness and information to light on this disease.
Six medical studies done in the past year by Cornell Researchers report that apples help fight Breast cancer due to a number of mechanisms. Specifically the studies showed that apples may significantly reduce the size of existing tumors and prevent the formation of new tumors. The same researchers found a number of cancer fighting qualities in the skins of the apples. The adage “an apple a day” really applies here. Researchers recommend taking an apple extract daily and eating apples several times a week. One way to incorporate apples is the desert like baked cinnamon apple! Delicious! Bake or sauté those with olive oil and cinnamon for a real treat! Let’s do this!
Other foods that help prevent and combat Breast Cancer are the cruciferous vegetables; BROCOLLI, KALE, and SPINACH. AVOCADOS, high in monounsaturated fats are excellent in the fight against many cancers; and also help calm stress! A one cup serving of PEACHES twice a week can help cut your risk for Breast Cancer by 40%! A Mediterranean diet consisting of locally grown FRESH PRODUCE; NUTS; FISH; lots of olive oil has been proved effective!
Try to stay away from processed foods; and maintain a lower calorie life style.
Exercise has been proven effective; especially targeting the fat around our bellies. Walking daily combined with yoga that focuses on the core and light weight training 5 days a week helps you to be battle ready!
Ladies we have to be WARRIORS when it comes to our health! It’s so worth it!
JUST DO IT!
Take good care
