Welcome to May; this month we celebrate Mothers. Let’s wander through the different stages and ages of Motherhood and perhaps look at ways to enhance our lives.
I am actually going to get personal and tell you a little about myself and maybe the routine I follow will make your life healthier! I am a 62 year old mother of two children and grandmother to four grandchildren. I also deal with a brain disease (microangiopathy) which was the cause of me selling my business and retiring early. However my life is full and busy and I take care of myself so I can keep up! I walk daily and do yoga which keeps me fit and most importantly stress free. I highly recommend it! I take a multivitamin for women (I prefer a gummy); I also take a natural phytoestrogen; calcium; essential fatty acids for women and B-12! I feel really good and I am often guessed to be 10 years younger than I am. I am blessed; but I do take care of myself.
Mother’s dealing with a new baby has special needs. Supplement with Calcium; and a good multivitamin; after checking with your doctor of course! Try to nap when baby naps; (I know that is easier said than done) the housework will wait; your health will not.
Mothers of school age children need to keep their energy up; while keeping their stress levels down. I recommend continuing a good multivitamin; natural energizers such as ginseng; b vitamins; iron if deficient and vitamin D-3. Yes all these nutrients can be found in foods; but be honest do you really eat enough of the nutrient rich foods your body needs while following a hectic schedule! Yikes! Stress relievers include lavender tea (my favorite); chamomile tea and lemon grass tea. Also formulas like “Bach flower remedies” are so effective. Delegate Moms! Don’t try to do or be everything to your kids; remember the saying “it takes a village”; utilize your village! Breathe deep Moms and “Enter the Silence” for only 5 minutes a day. Close your eyes, clear your mind and Breathe; just 5 minutes I promise will do wonders for you!
