Welcome to summer…already! Wow how time flies! Summer inspires us to run, jump, cycle, and dance! Get active! To support this active lifestyle we need strong bones; so this month I will be covering Bone Health and Calcium.
Calcium is the lynchpin to bone health; but lifestyle factors in very strongly. Get moving! 30 minutes a day of strength building and weight bearing exercises such as walking and weight lifting increases bone mass! Minimize falling hazards by incorporating yoga; tai-chi and dance into your life! A good night’s sleep supports effective bone metabolism. Be good to your body…DON’T SMOKE! Nicotine can strip your bones of Calcium.
Foods rich in calcium include milk; fortified tofu and soy milk; broccoli, Brussels sprouts, mustard greens and Kale. Almonds and Brazil nuts also are rich in calcium!
Make no bones about it the stronger our skeletons the more active our lifestyle can be. Thrive. Enjoy living!!!
Okay, now let’s talk about the health of California’s water supply. We are in a drought people! Try these relatively easy tips to help our beautiful state.
Water your lawns every OTHER day; at around 6:00 A.M. for no longer than 3 minutes. This should keep your lawns healthy until the drought ends. I replaced the planter in my front yard with decorative bark and just 4 potted drought resistant succulents; barely need watering!
Fix leaky toilets! Install Low-flow if possible.
Take 3-5 minute showers top and be hyper-aware of water usage while washing your face and brushing your teeth. WE CAN DO THIS; WE ARE CALIFORNIA!
REHYDRATE YOUR BODIES BY DRINKING PLENTY OF ALKALYNE WATER AND ORGANIC SPRING WATER.
Stay hydrated to avoid dehydration; fatigue; and dangerous mineral deficiencies. Take care of yourself; take care of your environment; this is a win-win combination!
Until Next time
Take Good Care
