THE BENEFITS OF CANNABIDIOL (CBD) OIL
WHAT IS CANNABIDIOL?
It’s a Cannabidiol - one of the parts found in cannabis. It is the portion of cannabis that can be used in medical functions. Uses of cannabis high in amounts of CBD, which do not possess the psychoactive properties of other cannabidiols, can be used in the management in variety of disorders. Some include: anti-pain, anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory or even anti-spasm disorders without becoming sleepy or having the effects of euphoria, which is a characteristic of cannabis.
Studies by the scientific community show there could be significant use for CBD in helping with symptoms of many ailments, such as: diabetes, alcoholism, rheumatoid arthritis, PTSD, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy, and neurological disorders. There are seven benefits attributed to the use of CBD and health related issues. CBD can benefit the brain, stomach, hands, eyes, heart, intestines and legs. In the brain, CBD can be used as an anti-psychotic, anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, anti-oxidant, and neuro-protective agent.
The stomach benefits from CBD when used in the suppression of nausea or vomiting and also helps with appetite control. When CBD is used as an analgesic for rheumatoid arthritis, the hands get much needed relief. The heart benefits as CBD is used as an atherosclerosis, anti-ischemic, and anti-inflammatory agent. The legs have shown to use CBD to stimulate bone growth and strengthen bones affected by osteoporosis. Whoa! Say what??
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD AND THC
CBD does not possess the psychoactive attributes that cause the feeling of being high and is legal in all 50 states! THC does possess the psychoactive attributes and is the illegal portion of cannabis in many states. The U.S. Government filed a patent on cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuro-protectants in 1999. This patent was filed in the initial research of the healing benefits of CBD. CBD that is extracted from hemp plants is legal in all 50 states and people are able to benefit from all of its attributes.
ENDOCANNABOID (ECS)?
ECS is the endocannabonoid system in our body! How do CBD and ECS work together? The ECS is considered the portion of the body that helps regulate a state of balance in the body. CBD uses the ECS to foster healing within the body. The primary reason CBD works well for health issues is related to interactions within the body's endocannabinoid system. This assists the body in stimulating the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The body then promotes the homeostasis or a balance in the body.
Cannabinoid-based drugs originally modeled on cannabinoids isolated from marijuana are now known to significantly impact the functioning of the endocannabinoid system of mammals. This system operates in the brain as well organs and tissues in the periphery including the immune system.
Cannabinoid-based drugs have demonstrated to function independently of these receptors. Cannabinoids regulate many physiological functions and their impact on immunity is generally anti-inflammatory in nature.
Psychoactive and non-psychoactive, cannabinoid-based drugs have been tested and found moderately effective in clinical trials of multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, arthritis and neuropathic pain. Other pre-clinical data with cannabinoid-based drugs, suggest efficacy in other inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis and osteoporosis.
SOME AILMENTS AND BENEFITS
CBD oil usually doesn’t present with major risks or sides effects, however, side effects are possible! These include:
More human studies are needed to fully understand the range of risks and side effects that CBD oil may cause. Studies of CBD oil aren’t common partially because Schedule 1 substances like cannabis are highly regulated, causing some obstacles for researchers. But with recent changes in public interest, the increase in study for medicinal purposes may increase. With the legalization of marijuana products, more research is possible and more answers will come.
Is CBD oil legal?
In the United States, CBD oil is legal in some states, but not all. Certain states that have legalized CBD for medical use may require users to apply for special licensing. It’s also important to know that the FDA hasn’t approved CBD for any medical conditions.
