JANUARY 2016
EXERCISE HACKS!!
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2016; your best year yet!
So let’s talk exercise! I’m sure you all have your favorite routines; for me it’s walking 3-miles a day and doing yoga and weight training Monday through Friday. Weekends are down time!
Sometimes as hard as you try, life gets in the way; I had to forgo my yoga for two weeks through the Christmas Holiday; but using the hacks I’ll be covering I was able to work my abs (core); as
well as firm my arms and all muscle groups! Also I started the holiday feeding frenzy at my normal weight (146 lbs.) for my 5’9” build and only gained 2 lbs.; all the while enjoying EVERY
holiday food!
- While I brush my teeth in the morning I do Squats, Plies and Butt Kicks; working my thigh muscles and my gluts! I usually count off 2-3 minutes teeth brushing.
- I eat oatmeal Monday through Friday and while it is thickening for 2 minutes I do free weights for my arms; biceps; triceps; back of my arms. I’m proud to say at 64 years old I wore an off
the shoulder top on New Year’s Eve and my arms shined!
- While I dry my hair; I do what’s called either a Stork or Tree pose. This pose involves standing on one foot, balancing. Balancing requires tightening the core thus working the ab muscles; it
truly tones my mid-section!
- While I curl my eyelashes (yes I just said that!) I tighten my abs for the 30 seconds I curl each eye.
Anytime there is music in my house I dance my way through it!
- Parking as far away from a store that I am shopping at requires I walk more! Be aware of your surroundings and don’t do this after dark.
- I live ½ mile from my grocery store and post office so often times I walk instead of getting in the car!
- Finally as I end my day and brush my teeth I repeat The Tree/ Stork pose to firm my abs and calm me for a good night’s rest!
Just a reminder I do have a background in exercise training and I taught for 15 years. I’ve long retired but still keep in shape! I’ll be 64 this month and I’ve kept the 117 lbs. off that I lost
34 years ago! Let us at COMPLETE HEALTH make this your best year!
Take good care,
Barbara
