April, 2016
Hello! Welcome to April! As I sit here today listening to the rain outside I am happy to know Southern California is getting a much needed drink of water!
My topic this month is Earth Day; and also protecting our “personal planet”; ourselves. Let’s begin with a little History. Earth Day was established in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson in response to a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara CA in 1969. Celebrating the planet’s environment; this day also promoted awareness about all types of pollution harming our planet. Earth Day created public support for the Environmental Protection Agency; and the passage of several environmental laws including the Endangered Species Act. In this election year; many of these important laws are threatened with repeal. I for one will only support candidates who will protect these laws and Mother Earth for my children, grandchildren and generations to come!
Now let’s talk about our “personal planets”! How well do you treat yourself? Do you eat clean; meaning mainly locally sourced, unprocessed, and organic foods? Buy from your local farmers markets; cook with little or no unhealthy fats; eat fish at least twice a week?
Do you take the time to exercise daily: anything you enjoy that raises your heart rate and challenges you? Do you meditate; pray or ascribe to some faith based belief? Do you have a “tribe”; a like-minded group of people who uplift you?
Research has shown that all these practices contribute GREATLY to longevity and vitality! Come by Complete Health Store and see our array of natural foods and supplements!
